Hospitality Rising: Touring Midtown's Hotel Development
Midtown's hotel industry is booming, with over 1,000 hotel rooms in the pipeline adding to the 4,000+ hotel rooms already in the 1.2 sq. mile core. Two hotel projects are already well under construction, so we decided to take a close-up look.
Greystar's Ascent Midtown, located at the corner of West Peachtree and 18th Streets, is steadily stacking floors. It will top out at 17 stories in a residential tower, and 8 stories for the hotel component.
This mixed-use project will include 176 hotel rooms, as well as 328 residential units and 3,000 sf of ground-floor retail. One of the coolest elements of this project unseen in these photos is its lush landscaping system, which will include a sizable green wall facing West Peachtree Street, shown in the rendering below.
The dual-branded AC/Moxy hotel, sandwiched between the Marriott and the Four Seasons on 14th Street, is making progress as well.
A view from 13th Street shows a narrow stretch of land to the left of the concrete columns, hinting at the future pedestrian path set aside by the developer for the Art Walk. This paved path will create passage from Peachtree Walk at 13th Street through to 14th Street and north toward the Arts Center Station.
It's hard to imagine this construction site transforming into the rendering below, but it's bound to happen quickly.
Beyond these two projects, stay tuned on planned developments, including the Hampton Inn & Suites by North Point Hospitality Group, Trillist's SLS Atlanta Hotel & Residences, and Selig's 1105 West Peachtree Project.
