Inside the Numbers: Atlanta Food & Wine Festival’s Impact on Midtown ATL

Atlanta Food & Wine Festival is the nation’s first culinary weekend dedicated exclusively to showcasing the rich food and beverage traditions of the South – Texas to D.C. The event has been held in Midtown Atlanta for each of the past several years, bringing Midtown’s identity as a culinary destination into focus. In addition to food tasting experiences in Piedmont Park and formal dinner programs, the festival offers 80+ classes during the weekend, from large stage demonstrations to intimate tasting seminars and technique labs. Here’s a brief look at the impact of this annual event in Midtown.


Hosted in Midtown Atlanta, the event attracts visitors from every Southeastern state.  Overall attendance brings in guests from 35 states and 5 countries. Where do guests come from?

  • 69% from Metro ATL
  • 13% from Georgia, outside Metro ATL
  • 29% from outside Georgia (16% southeast region, 13% national)
  • 1% international (United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Belgium and New Zealand)

Hotel room nights from 2016 related to the festival:

  • 780 room nights Loews Atlanta Hotel
  • 320 room nights W Midtown
  • According to organizers, there are as many as 200-300 additional room nights booked for the event at other hotels in the area.
