High Museum to install interactive art sculptures at locations throughout Midtown

{Back to Midtown Monthly}

Starting April 24th, the High Museum will unveil its latest interactive exhibit “Los Trompos,” which is the second large-scale outdoor art display from Mexican designers Héctor Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena—the artists behind the popular exhibit “Mi Casa, Your Casa.”   As part of the exhibit, Midtown Alliance and our community partners have joined with the High Museum of Art to bring these colorful, interactive life-size sculptures to the streets of Midtown. The seven street locations will complement the 40 installations at the Woodruff Arts Center.

The installations are designed to encourage interaction within the Midtown community. By working together, people can rock these whimsical, kinetic art installations. The motion of the art pieces imitate a spinning top—the Mexican toy from which the designers drew their inspiration. By encouraging playful interactions in Midtown’s open spaces, these unique pieces will enrich the Midtown experience with an added layer of delight for residents, workers and visitors alike.

Thank you to our community partners who have agreed to sponsor these structures—Selig Enterprises, Bank of America Plaza, The Office of the Arts at Georgia Institute of Technology, Cousins Properties and Franklin Street Properties. The “Los Trompos” exhibit pieces will be located at the following sites:
