Be There: 2018 Annual Meeting to Examine the Potential of Our Streets

Event to feature keynote from transportation thought leader Janette Sadik-Khan

Each year, Midtown Alliance hosts an annual meeting that brings our community together and stretches our thinking around the issues that define our city’s future. And the 2018 event is one you won’t want to miss. Here are three reasons why you need to hold time on your calendar to join us the morning of Tuesday, February 13th at the Fox Theatre:

1. New announcements and updates on public improvement projects coming to Midtown

Get insight about bold projects coming to streets, sidewalks and plazas near you, as we walk through the tens of millions of dollars in new work that Midtown Alliance will be taking on with the Midtown Improvement District, City of Atlanta and Georgia Dept. of Transportation and other partners in 2018 and beyond.

2. Killer keynote, delivered by a true streetfighter

A leading voice on urban transportation policy, Janette Sadik-Khan is internationally respected for her transformative redesigns of New York City streets that are being replicated today in cities worldwide. Serving in Mayor Bloomberg’s administration as NYC transportation commissioner from 2007–2013 and currently an adviser to cities around the world, she recently published a book, Streetfight, a road map for reshaping our cities, beginning with more livable streets. Hear what Janette has to say about the potential that exists in Midtown Atlanta’s transportation network, and your role in getting us there.

3. Milestone anniversary puts Midtown’s amazing present-day run into context

Learn more about the Midtown Atlanta you may never have known to exist, and how the community experienced a turning point in the 1970s that sparked today’s momentum surge. Part of the annual meeting will explore Midtown’s journey, how it began, how it almost didn’t get off the ground, how we got to the present day, and where we’ll go next. Seeing 40 years of transformation come alive will truly put Midtown’s rags-to-riches story into perspective.
