Biketober is Almost Here: What You Need To Know

Atlanta's month-long challenge is back and it is coming with some exciting new features

Published 9/24/18

October is on its way. Time for some chilly autumn air, spooky decorations, sweet and spicy beverages...and biking everywhere!

Atlanta Bike Challenge 2018 a.k.a. Biketober is a fun and free month of biking, teambuilding, competition, and top prizes. The Atlanta Bike Challenge was created for both new and experienced cyclists. All are welcome: from daily bike commuters to folks who've never ridden before—the points system has been carefully selected to ensure a fair and exciting competition. Rally some friends or coworkers and get biking.

How it works

You and your team earn points for every mile you ride, every day you ride, and for every person you encourage to sign up. So gather up your friends, family or colleagues and start racking up points! Teams can be up to 8 people.

Your team will compete against 9 other teams within your pool (pools fill up chronologically; as people create teams, they get put into a pool with other teams created around the same time.) After the third week of Biketober, the top team from each pool will also be put into a special Final Sprint where they'll face all the other pool winners in a playoff to determine the top Biketober team in the entire region!

Did we mention you can win great prizes?

Log rides automatically

Sync with the Ride Report app to:

  • Log your rides automatically—no need to press start or stop. Through the magic of technology, the app knows when you're riding your bike and automatically logs your rides.
  • Help make the city better for riding. The data collected is used by the City of Atlanta's Chief Bicycle Officer to inform better bike infrastructure decisions!
  • Automatically go into our prize draws. By syncing with Love to Ride you get automatically entered to win prizes!

Get social with it

The Mobile Social (from Piedmont Park) - October 11th

The Mobile Social is one of the great staples of the bicycle community in Atlanta, bringing together a diverse mixture of attendees to cruise the city on a Thursday evening, and ending at a favorite local watering hole. It's open to all types of bicycle riders: commuters, recreational cyclists, college students, hipsters, racers, riders, couriers, families with children, the curious and bored, the timid and bold. Simply put: You. Best part? It's a great way to spend time enjoying the scenery without worrying about cars or deadlines.

Atlanta Bicycle Coalition: City Cycling - October 4th

Give your city cycling confidence a boost with this instructional group ride. We will first gather for a few short drills, before hitting the city streets on a gentle ride. The goal? Take it slow, stay together, practice our skills in a safe and supportive manner.

Bike-In Movie @ Tech Square - October 26th

Join Midtown Alliance + Relay for a movie, popcorn, and fun at Centergy tower. Arrive on a Relay bike for a chance to win prizes. More details to come.
