Throughout the year, Midtown Alliance hosts more than a dozen events geared toward community engagement and celebration. Taking place this month, and joining this year’s event roster, is the return of the Lunch Box Series.
Last hosted almost a decade ago, the Lunch Box Series will introduce picnic-style eating to the steps of the Atlanta History Center Midtown (Margaret Mitchell House) campus. Scheduled for Wednesdays in September, the series offers guests an invitation to sit and enjoy their lunch on the back lawn.
“Thanks to the partnership between Midtown Alliance and Atlanta History Center, we are excited bring back the Lunchbox Series to Midtown” said Midtown Alliance’s Director of Member Engagement, Philip Rafshoon. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to have a lunch break with great food and enjoy theater or musical performances each week.”
Each Wednesday, the Peachtree Street gates at the Atlanta History Center will open to the neighborhood between the hours of 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Midtown residents, workers and visitors are invited to drop by with their lunches or purchase lunch onsite from staple Midtown restaurant, Empire State South. Visit their website to place your lunch order online.
Guests will be treated to weekly programming from local entertainment groups and will have the opportunity to tour the exhibits inside the center. Currently on display are mementos from the Gone with the Wind premiere, possessions of Margaret Mitchell, and a photography exhibition highlighting the funeral of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
