What to Expect at the 2019 Midtown Alliance Annual Meeting

Here's a rundown of to expect at the 2019 Midtown Alliance Annual Meeting.

Published 02/07/19

More than 1,000 people have already signed up to join us at the 2019 Midtown Alliance Annual Meeting, coming up the morning of February 19 at the Fox Theatre. Featuring insight from Midtown Alliance leadership and partners, the annual meeting has become one of our district's most anticipated events each year. Every year, the Midtown community comes together to celebrate the wins and also embrace the opportunities and challenges the future will bring. Here are a few things to look forward to at this year's meeting:

Insight from Midtown business leaders and Midtown Alliance leadership.

What makes Midtown exceptional as a place? How do we address head-on the challenges that come with a thriving, fast-growing urban district. Get perspective from the leaders involved in these questions every day, including: Midtown Alliance's Board Chair, the organization's President & CEO, the Regional President for one of the nation's largest organic grocers, an expert on urban design that is among the longest-tenured Midtown Alliance staffers, and of course, an expert that has led transportation for Chicago and Washington DC and has his finger on the pulse of where the sector is going next.

Fun photo opportunities.

Get social with us! Be sure to stop by the photo wall in the Egyptian Ballroom to get your photo taken in front of our event banner. A full photo gallery will be available after the event so you can share your images using the hashtag: #MidtownATL.

A Q&A after the meeting with transportation expert and keynote speaker, Gabe Klein.

In 2018, the phrase "micro-mobility" entered our community conversation like never before, but transportation expert Gabe Klein has been at the forefront of this issue for years. As the former transportation commissioner in Chicago and Washington DC, Klein is a recognized expert and author on technology disruption trends impacting the future of cities. In his work as a policymaker and an entrepreneur, Gabe revamped technology platforms and government processes while focusing on putting people first on city streets. He wrote the book Start-Up City, which discusses revamping how (and how fast) we innovate in cities and rethinking public-private partnerships with a triple-bottom-line approach as technology shapes a dramatically different future.

You'll get to hear directly from Gabe about your questions regarding the future of transportation in Atlanta and cities around the world. You are welcome to stay after the meeting for a Q&A. Get started by reading our Q&A with Gabe here.

Recognition of our partners who work with us every day to build a better Midtown.

Our partners are what make Midtown an amazing place to live, work and play. Expect to be inspired by the people and projects that represent the best of the best in Midtown over the past year, from arts and culture to small business and more. Two recent development projects will also be recognized for going above and beyond in their building designs.

A unique artistic performance.

Keep your eyes peeled for a special artistic performance as you leave the Egyptian Ballroom to take your seat at the main stage. We won't spoil the surprise, but let's just say this group of artists makes a very good pointe.

Optional post-meeting tour of the Fox Marquee Club.

After the event, our friends at the Fox Marquee Club will be opening their doors for tours. You'll get exclusive access to preview all three levels of the extraordinary space

The opportunity to connect with each another about the Midtown issues you care about.

Above all, the work we do at Midtown Alliance is about creating opportunities for connection between people, whether at Annual Meeting or simply greeting a neighbor while walking along a Midtown sidewalk. We hope you'll use this opportunity to continue building the relationships that will shape the future of Midtown for everyone.
