Trumpeter Darren English to Release New CD at February Jazz at All Saints’
South African trumpet virtuoso Darren English will be the featured artist for the
February 13th Jazz at All Saints’ concert, marking the first performance in the
U.S. of his new album, “He Said/She Said.” Fresh from a three-month international
tour, English has selected Jazz at All Saints’ as the first stop in his 2026 touring
schedule and the place to introduce his new compositions to America.
According to the acclaimed trumpeter Melvin Jones, who tours with such
luminaries as Doja Cat, Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, and Usher, English’s All
Saints’ audience will be captivated by “He Said/She Said.”
“I’m excited over this new project by Darren English. . .I can’t say enough about
the level of artistry in this album,” Jones, also a professor of music at Morehouse
College, said recently. “It feels like just the right combination of the past, the
present, and the future. Every now and then there comes a project that seems
almost ordained to be delivered to the people. What makes this music particularly
exciting is the just-right balance between the expected and the unexpected. This is
not just another CD, or album, or an LP—it is, in fact, a work of art.”
Hailed by Jazz Times as a “force and voice to be heard and understood,” English
honed his bebop skills at Georgia State University, where he was selected as one of
its “40-Under-40 Influential and Innovative” honorees. He has earned two Global
Peace Song Awards (2018 and 2020) and has been named to lists of the year’s best
by both JAZZIZ Magazine and The Huffington Post.
Darren English’s February 13th Jazz at All Saints’ concert will begin in the
church at 7:00 p.m. and will be followed by a Q&A conducted by the artistic
director of the series, Virginia Schenck, and a reception in the Parish House.
Ticket information: Tickets for Darren English’s concert ($25/adults, $15/

In its inaugural season, it was named by both ArtsATL and The Atlanta JournalConstitution as one of the best things to arrive on the Atlanta Jazz scene in 2024.
More recently, the series was chosen for Atlanta Magazine’s Best in Atlanta in
