In this session, we’ll explore what architecture is and how it shapes the places where we live, learn, work, and play. Students will discover the role of architects, examine different types of architecture, and learn how buildings move from an idea to a finished design. Through observation and discussion, students will begin thinking like architects while developing the vocabulary used to analyze buildings and spaces.
What You’ll Do
Explore what architecture is and why it matters
Learn about different branches of architecture and the role of architects
Analyze buildings using form, function, materials, and context
Practice observing and discussing architecture using design vocabulary
Begin building a personal sketchbook and design portfolio
Share observations and participate in group discussion
Practice observation, creative thinking, communication, and design analysis
