2025 Midtown Walk Challenge Encourages Locals to Find Their Stride

09/02/2025

Midtown workers and residents looking to shake up their commuting routine are invited to discover their district in a fun new way. From September 5-19, Midtown Transportation, a program of Midtown Alliance, is hosting the 2025 Midtown Walk Challenge, a competition modeled after a scavenger hunt that demonstrates the convenience and benefits of walking as a mobility option.

The Midtown Walk Challenge seeks to motivate commuters and residents to become more comfortable moving around the area on foot while discovering local art, architecture, and Midtown landmarks.

“Midtown stands out as one of the most walkable places in all of Atlanta,” said Midtown Transportation senior program manager Rob Kelly. “The Midtown district is unique in that 96% of the office buildings here are within a six-minute walk of MARTA rail stations and numerous local and express transit connections. Our message to Midtown workers and residents is to have fun and see how walking can become a bigger part of your everyday routine.”

Through their experience, Walk Challenge participants can see firsthand the benefits of walking and how Midtown’s network of sidewalks and crosswalks connect them to nearby transit routes, attractions and more. According to commute data from Midtown Alliance’s 2025 Community Survey, nearly one-fourth of those who work in the district use alternatives to driving alone to get to and from their workplace, a number that still has room to grow.

Those interested in being part of the 2025 Midtown Walk Challenge can download a smartphone app that serves up daily missions and activities to complete in order to earn points. The competition has garnered support from several Midtown businesses offering prize packages to the top scorers. View complete details at MidtownATL.com/WalkChallenge.

Commuters in Midtown and throughout the region can also access resources available through the Georgia Commute Options program, offering a Guaranteed Ride Home program and other tools.
