June 2019 DRC Recap: StreetLights Residential Proposes New 26-Story Tower

The Midtown Development Review Committee kicked off its first meeting of 2019 by reviewing a proposal by StreetLights Residential to build a 26-story tower at 5th and Juniper.
About the Project
StreetLights Residential presented its project that includes 299 market-rate residential units and over 4,000 square feet of retail uses. Seven levels of 568 parking spaces would be provided, including 150 spaces allocated for the adjacent St. Mark United Methodist Church.
DRC Response
The DRC recommendations included:
- moving the retail space to the corner of 5th and Juniper to take advantage of pedestrian activity along 5th Street.
- strengthening the exterior design features by working with Atlanta City Design Studio due to the building’s prominent scale and its location adjacent to the historic church.
Upon addressing the comments and collaborating with the Design Studio the applicant team is expected to return to the DRC.
