As Evening Watch Shift Leader, Sergeant Terry Sadler is a valued member of our Midtown Blue team. He also holds a daytime job with in the public sector. When he clocks out, Sadler pours his time into supporting his alma mater Alcorn State University, an HBCU located in Lorman, Mississippi.

Sadler is president of the Alcorn (pronounced ALL-corn, like “always”)  Metro Atlanta Alumni Chapter, which has more than 40 members. The chapter participates in highway cleanups around Stone Mountain and donates to family dinners and toy drives around the holidays. Its members present at college recruiting fairs and, pre-COVID, would take students considering Alcorn on trips to the university.

Sadler graduated from Alcorn in 2000 with a degree in B.A. in criminal justice. During his time in school, he was on the tumbling squad with the cheerleaders, but he also credits the school for “teaching him how to survive.”

“Living in a rural setting away from mom and dad, you have to grow up, learn responsibility,” he said. “I have a deep love for Alcorn. It has taught me so much and allowed me to do what I do.”
