New Weekly Outdoor Yoga Series Offers Relaxation After Work

07/06/23

BY ELIZABETH McGINNESS

Yoga is an opportunity for all types of people to come together, with no judgment, and an occasion to find inner peace. And Midtown Alliance is excited to partner with Evolation Yoga to host a weekly Yoga Flow event series at 10th Street Park.

Free outdoor vinyasa yoga instruction begins on July 6 and continues every Thursday (weather permitting) until October. The event happens after work at 6pm. Get details on the event series here.

10th Street Park and its Many Uses

The 10th Street Park continues to prove its worth as a central gathering place. This season, the park has hosted everything from dog-themed events to outdoor movie nights and more. Now, residents and daytime workers can use the space after they clock out from work to relax, unwind and enjoy the city in a new way.

We caught up with Will Milne, studio manager at Evolation Yoga, to get a preview of Yoga Flow and discuss why people need outlets like yoga more than ever.

Why yoga?

For Milne, teaching yoga has helped him find balance and deal with the stresses and anxieties of everyday life. He believes everyone can benefit from yoga instruction, even if it's just once in a while.

“Where we can really help people most is when they learn to incorporate what they learn in the yoga class out in their everyday life," Milne said. "The lessons can be applied anywhere. Standing in line at the grocery store, driving in traffic, or at work, and just finding ways to stay mindful and present when we’re experiencing pressure in our lives.”

The Uniqueness of Outdoor Yoga in the Middle of the City

Milne says he's excited about the yoga class and the connection with nature that participants will feel when they are practicing outdoors.

At the end of the practice, “You’re lying there and just looking up at the sky," Milne said. "There's no feeling that really compares when you have that immediate connection with nature and that expansiveness of the sky and the breeze.”

Free to attend. Open to all.

Yoga Flow is free and open to everyone. No RSVP is required. All you need is a yoga mat and a water bottle. But remember to keep an eye on weather conditions each week, and watch Midtown Alliance’s social media channels for updates in the event of cancelations. We can’t wait to see you at 10th Street Park!
