About Midtown Alliance 

Midtown Alliance is a coalition of business and civic leaders focused on promoting economic development and creating an exceptional urban experience in Midtown, Atlanta. Priorities include infrastructure improvements, public safety, transportation and urban design and planning, beautification, economic development and communications and marketing.

Midtown Alliance is a non-profit organization governed by a 15-person Executive Committee and a 70-person Board of Directors. Midtown Alliance operates with a full-time office staff of 21.

What we need is an enthusiastic communicator with a gift for telling excellent stories about the projects and the partners, the bustle and the breakthroughs that make Midtown great.

As our intrepid Content Producer, you will have your hands on a range of marketing and communications projects that build excitement about all that’s happening in the heart of our city ... and to help people understand their role in creating it. From reporting the latest news to designing imaginative materials for branded campaigns, every month brings new adventures in a place that never stands still. This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications.

Key responsibilities fall into three areas:

1. Bolster our organization’s presence as a leading Midtown media outlet, developing timely, substantive stories that command attention in our audiences’ news feeds. This means you will be called upon to:

  • Act as a local media correspondent, gathering and sharing interesting news from inside the organization and around the district
  • Translate stories into a mix of short-form written articles, infographics, visuals and multimedia for publication across Midtown Alliance's communications channels
  • Elevate our media relations game to extend our reach into local and regional news outlets, maintaining relationships with reporters and influencers that cover the issues we follow 
  • Collaborate with staff and partners on objectives, editorial calendar and key messaging, working closely with the team to schedule distribution 

2. Add bench strength to our graphic design and brand communication efforts, balancing in-house design work for some assignments and managing a network of outside freelancers for other projects. We’re looking for you to:

  • Execute creative concept, layout and graphics for presentations, maps, infographics, signage, reports, destination advertising and other deliverables
  • Coordinate projects with other producers in our network, formulating creative direction and mapping out deliverables, timing and budget for print design, video, photo and other assignments
  • Shepherd assignments through production, working with printers, web developers, manufacturers, fulfillment houses and other types of vendors
  • Ensure that projects are consistent with our brand standards, acting as the definitive clearinghouse for everything that goes out

3.    Expand our department’s capacity by taking on special projects. Your charge in this area will be to: 

  • Provide internal counsel on marketing and communications campaigns that support land use, placemaking, transportation, public improvements, innovation, member engagement, public safety, operations and other Midtown Alliance initiatives
  • Manage media partnerships with arts and cultural partners, hospitality partners, and other community institutions to get the word out about local events
  • Assist with planning, creative direction and deliverables for signature Midtown Alliance events, including our annual meeting
  • Dig deep into our reports to find the best facts and figures we can elevate into our communications channels

Experience:

Our Content Producer is a well-rounded communicator with proven writing skills, a sharp eye for design, editorial instincts and a keen understanding of how to leverage media convergence. A successful candidate is detail-oriented, values craftsmanship, knows software and systems and can deftly move between them. A person in this role will succeed if they are extroverted, accustomed to producing high volumes of creative work on deadline, genuinely interested in an exceptional urban experience, and passionate about Midtown Alliance programs and initiatives.

Education: 

BA Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising or related field

Requirements and Skills: 

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience and with increasing responsibilities in media, PR, corporate communications, community outreach, destination marketing, entertainment or production, with emphasis on producing content for print, broadcast and digital outlets.
  • Hands-on experience with creating marketing and communications campaigns for external audiences
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products, including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Systems experience with website CMS (Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc); bulk e-mail marketing platform (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc); CRM system (Salesforce); Google Analytics
  • Experience with AP Style
  • Basic HTML and CSS is a strong plus
