“The Room Where it Happens:” Fox Theatre Set to Welcome "Hamilton"

Much-anticipated national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical lands in MidtownATL

Published: 5/3/18

The much-anticipated national touring production of the Tony Award-winning musical "Hamilton," which will touch down in 20 U.S. cities in 2018, is coming to the Fox Theatre in Midtown Atlanta later this month.

Demand to see the show, chronicling the story of one of America’s founding fathers with a hip-hop soundtrack, reached a fever pitch in Atlanta when tickets went on sale earlier this spring. Local media reported that the April release of single tickets for the 24 performances sold out within a few hours. For the 2018 tour, Atlanta - and specifically The Fox - stands virtually alone in the Southeast: the next closest venue that will host the show this year is two hours away in Greenville.

Venerable Landmark Boasts Impressive Resume in Entertainment Biz

Midtown Atlanta features the largest concentration of visual and performing arts institutions in the Southeast. Anchoring the district’s south end is an iconic, 90-year-old landmark that almost didn’t make it. Today, the Fox Theatre has earned some impressive standing in the industry:

  • Rolling Stone magazine has named The Fox one of the best big rooms in America
  • The venue is among the highest-grossing of its size worldwide for ticket sales, with 250 performances annually
  • The Fox attracts more than 500,000 visitors annually
  • In 2017, The Fox was named “Theater of the Year” by the International Entertainment Buyers Association (IEBA), besting New York’s Apollo Theatre and LA’s Shrine Auditorium among other finalists.

Long-Awaited Marquee Club Opening

The 10,000 SF Marquee Club presented by Lexus makes its debut this season on the rooftop, representing the venue’s largest expansion project since opening in 1929. What’s it all about? Food and drinks, patio views over iconic Peachtree Street, lavish seating, private restrooms and much more. The Fox Theatre is offering access to the club via annual memberships for patrons, and entry to the club will require accompanying admission to a performance. Open only during shows and performances, Marquee Club access passes are limited and may be purchased for select shows on a first come, first serve basis via the Fox Theatre website.
